Hayfever Autotest Results
What a splendid day out we all had at the Hayfever Autotest, in a big smooth grass field in the rolling hills of rural Fife near Woodside (the one near New Gilston, not the one in Glenrothes) with spectacular views across Largo Bay and the Forth to Edinburgh.
Gordon McElrath was fastest on the first test in his Clan Crusader, but David Wilson in the Mini Special took the lead on the second test.
Juniors Ewan and Erin Stanhope got a fright when a lack of mechanical sympathy (OK, sheer brutality) broke the gear linkage on Mum''s Corsa. Thankfully it all popped back together to finish the event and let Dad drive it home, so when it all comes to bits again en route to Asda, Mum will get the blame.
Apart from that, there was a nice laid back atmosphere, the biggest worry anybody had was forgetting the sunblock, or maybe getting the barbecue lit
There are a few failed-to-finish in the results, but that was due to leaving for a birthday party rather than accidents.
First overall was Ian Forgan, driving a old Fiat Punto.
Jim and David Wilson, sharing the cutdown Mini Special, were second and third overall, and led the Open class.
Gavin Gray (Citroen Xsara) was second in the Production Cars section, with David Summers (Ford Ka) third.
