Jim Wilson Wins Autotest
Jim Wilson set the Fastest Time of the Day at the GMSC autotest named in memory of his father Andy. David Wilson and Chirnside driver Archie Simmonds were nipping at Jim''s heels all day and although neither could catch him, each would take a class win.
The event took place in the east paddock at Knockhill and a good mix of tests meant that the twelve entrants enjoyed a wonderful day''s sport under sunny blue skies.
Four Wilsons were out on the event, including daughter Charlotte Smith who was competing for the first time.
Ian Forgan brought along an old Fiat Punto that was made to do things it never had before ... and Gordon McElrath & Jim Rintoul shared Gordon''s Clan Crusader. It looked and sounded good but a lack of reverse gear meant that opponents ended up waiting at stop astrides to push the car backwards and let Gordon / Jim continue with the test.
The event also included a Production Car Autotest, in which standard cars were occupied by two people rather than the normal one. Gavin Gray took the win, followed by John Smith and his wife Charlotte, with Gavin''s son Andrew coming in fourth.
