Bob Grant/Peter Carstairs - winners of the Kingdom Stages Rally 2008

Rinties Win Again

It's all over for another year.

All of the top three were former winners of this event, all of them had stage wins and any of them could have won the rally, but the Rintouls came from behind after both Grant and Morris had problems. The top four seeds finished as the top four, separated by only 42 seconds, though one of them wasnt in the right order.

We have a full entry list, and a quality field lined up for the 2009 Kingdom.

Last years winners Bob Grant and Pete Carstairs are first away in their Impreza, followed by John and Jim Rintoul, winners in 2006 and 2007, in the Evo 9, with another serial Kingdom winner Tom Morris and codriver Colin Harkness seeded third in a Metro 6R4.

Behind them Bruce Edwards and Jim Smith, with their plastic fantastic Darrian Honda T9, have already got the STRC wrapped up, but will be hoping they can surprise the 4WD big bangers for a season finale, just as long as the wee airfix car doesn't transform itself to a Reliant Robin like it did last year.

We also have a surprise visitor or two from the SRC, including Gary Adam who is giving 14 year old Kyle his first taste of rallying. Gary and Kyle are seeded at a lowly 47 because they are double-entered in the same Escort Mk2 as Neil Ogilvie and granddad Gordon Adam, but maybe that will allow Granpaw time to give the youngster a few tips before each stage.
